Good morning everyone!
Sorry for being MIA these past few days! I meant to get this post up yesterday, but other stuff just kept getting in the way! Better late than never, right? Anywaysssssssss, I’m back from a rather crazy weekend and so excited to get back on track! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the weekends, but there’s just something about waking up on a
Monday Tuesday morning that allows me to forget about the weekend slip-ups and start fresh! I guess Monday Tuesday isn’t so bad after all, right?
This weekend was Matteo’s 28th birthday and basically we partied like rockstars (no really, we did.) Since his birthday fell on a Sunday, we celebrated on Friday, Saturday AND Sunday! It was great because we got to spend time with pretty much all of our friends and family, and we got to visit some really cool new places too! I’m not going to lie, I’m still feeling some of the repercussions today, but every once in a while it’s totally worth it! Plus, this means that I am going to get a 3 day birthday festival in a few months too, right Matteo? Woooooo, can’t wait, June 3rd where are you?
Met Bar & Red Lantern
On Friday night I met Matteo and some of his coworkers at Met Bar on Newbury St. I had never been there before, but I can tell you that I will definitely be returning! Met Bar has an upstairs dining room, a downstairs bar as well as lots of outdoor seating. We spent most of the time at the downstairs bar area, since we were able to score a large enough table for everyone to sit at. I really liked this place because it has an upscale and vintage feel that isn’t overpowering. It’s dark, but not gloomy and it’s classy but not over the top. Make sense?
I ordered a pink procescco (which was so cute!) and an arugula salad with roasted pine nuts, shaved parmesan cheese and grilled salmon on top. It was delicious!
Since it was a nice night, we decided to leave Met Bar, and take a 5 minute walk over to Red Lantern. I’ve been wanting to check out Red Lantern for a long time, but haven’t due to the super long line that typically seems to form outside every weekend! Let me just say that I now understand why there is always such a long line! The decor at Red Lantern is absolutely amazing and the drinks were great too! The Buddha statues that sit along the exposed brick walls and wooden beams really enhance the Asian inspired theme. I especially loved all of the red lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The vibe is seriously fantastic, and although we did not eat at Red Lantern, I will certainly go back, just to be in that atmosphere again!
All Seasons Table & Sonsie
On Saturday night the partying continued! We went to All Seasons Table and enjoyed my favorite sushi in town! You guys are probably sick of hearing about this place, but believe me, it’s just that good!
After our superb sushi date, Matteo and I headed to Newbury St, but this time we ended up at Sonsie. We enjoyed some after dinner expreso martini’s and it was the perfect way to end the night! Expresso martinis ROCK! I kind of want one right now
On Sunday, (Matteo’s actual birthday) we visited Pasta Beach with our families. You probably remember me writing about Pasta Beach here, just a few months ago! Do you sense a trend? Once we like a place, we are loyal customers!
I forgot to take some photos of the wonderful pizza’s and other various appetizers that we ordered, but I did get a photo of my main meal. I got the grilled salmon with roasted vegetables on the side. It was grilled to perfection, and the flavor was right on point. YUM!
I just realized that I had salmon all three nights of this birthday celebration. On the salad at Met Bar, in the sushi at All Season’s table and as a main dish at Pasta Beach! Should I consider changing the name of this blog to “My Salmon Addiction”? Haha! Anyways, after the main course we sang happy birthday and indulged in some awesome strawberry cheesecake! It was a fantastic end to the weekend! We definitely over indulged a few times, but hey that’s what birthdays are for, right?!
What was your most favorite birthday celebration?
