How is everyone today? I’ve been doing great - my schedule has been out of control (in a good way).
Between busy season at work, moving, modeling and my trip to Italy (still owe you a recap on that!) it seems like there just aren’t enough hours in the day.
Don’t get me wrong – I’m really happy about most of these developments, I like the faster pace at work, I love my new place and my vacation was amazing. Busy is definitely better than bored, but I am still human. I do tend to get overwhelmed and stressed during these times.
Since I frequently go through periods of time when I am busy, I’ve been able to find different methods to help me manage my schedule and my life for that matter.
Below are some of my favorite tips on how to deal with a hectic schedule.
Make a To-Do List
This is an absolute necessity for me. Every morning I write a “work to-do list” and a “daily to-do list”. I love being able to know exactly what I need to do that day, along with the sense of accomplishment I feel when I cross tasks off my list.
A tidy desk, tidy e-mail inbox and tidy living space helps me keep a clear mind. I don’t work well when there is clutter around, therefore I always try to organize as I go, instead of having to clean up a huge mess all at once.
Even if you have a million and one important things to do everyday, some tasks are inevitably more important than others. A clearly defined list of priorities will help you meet deadlines.
Sometimes people mean well, but take up too much of your precious time that you could be using elsewhere. A polite “no” or a reference to a later date, will help you to not waste time.
Leave Work at Work
This one is a toughy! Most people tend to bring their work home and let it interfere with their family/home life. It’s ok to bring work home every once in a while, but try not to make a habit of it. Prioritize, be organized and set boundaries. Relaxing at home will make work easier the next day.
Have Faith in Yourself
You can do this!!! No matter how busy you are, or how many things you need to finish, have faith and know that you WILL finish everything. There may be some bumps along the road, and it will seem difficult at times. Only when we are faced with the most difficult situations and challenges can we truly learn and grow as people. Life is tough, be tougher! Think positive. You’d be surprised how much you are capable of as long as you have a great mindset and attitude.
