Organizational Mess

Hey everyone!

Thanks for your nice comments on yesterday’s post! It’s so motivational to hear everyone’s reasons for running. Makes me really want to get out there and hit the pavement!

Second of all, check out this lovely scene that I was greeted by this morning.

snow

Guess we can forget about a winter like last year, which had practically NO snow! Oh well, this is New England after all. Guess I’ll just have to deal.

Dinner

Part of last night’s dinner was an experiment that I am glad to say turned out fabulous! It’s no secret that I am a dairy lover, hence the “yogurt addiction”. I love cheese, ice cream, yogurt, sour cream, milk etc.

One of my favorite salads is the bibb salad, which is typically smothered in blue cheese or ranch dressing. I used to steer clear of this dish for this very reason, but not anymore!

Last night I created a much lighter version of this salad by incorporating one of my favorite ingredients. I’ll give you just one guess as to what is was. Recipe will be posted later on in the week!

Organizational Mess

For the most part, I consider myself a neat and organized person. I’m not OCD by any means, but I’m generally happier when my room is neat and organized. Lately I’ve found myself getting very frustrated with the lack of space in my bedroom, especially in my closet.

Although I could use more space to put my clothes, I seem to manage OK in that regard. It is the shoes that are causing the problem here!

This photo is a slight exaggeration, but this is what happens when I get fed up with not having enough space for my shoes. I just leave them on the floor, because there’s no other place to put them! I have invested in a plastic door show rack similar to the one pictured below (except all the slots are filled in) and I STILL don’t have enough room.

I don’t have enough space for plastic bins or a shoe rack, because my room is too small. I also donated several of my shoes to good will about 3 months ago, so all the shoes I currently own I want to keep!

I need some serious help from the organizational fairy right now, because my current shoe situation is more like an organizational mess!

Another area that I am having trouble keeping organized is my jewelry. This isn’t AS bad, but still I feel as though my jewlerey could be organized in much more orderly fashion.

I often times find myself wearing the same jewelry day in and day out, because I dont feel like searching for my other pieces. I’d rather wear the same thing than create more of a mess by grabbing something from the bottom of the box!

Any suggestions on how I can better organize by shoes and jewelry, considering my lack of space?  Any insight is much appreciated! I’m going nuts over here (in case you couldn’t tell!)

  1. I run into the same problem – my room gets cluttered extremely easily, however, I don’t have the space for added furniture or any sort of crates. I’m trying to tackle my room this week…*listening for people’s suggestions* :)

  2. I cannot WAIT to get your recipe for a lightened bib salad. Bring it on! And I agree about how hard it can be to organize clothes–I organize my tops by dressy and casual. That seems to be the best way for me.

  3. Ahh! Jewelry and shoes are the worst for me, too! I used to have small hooks on a big wall in my bathroom that I hung my necklaces and bracelets on, but I couldn’t do that when I moved (I started running out of space, anyway.) Good luck and share your ideas if you come up with some! :)

  4. Ug. We just did a ton of organizing the past couple weeks! It’s so easy to just let things go and pile up and then BAM! Way too much crap.

The shoes thing drives me crazy too. I have shoes in 3 different closets. One thing I have found helps is getting a tub for summer shoes and putting them up and away somewhere. This way I am better able to see/access my winter shoes. I do the same in the summer. Makes for less of a mess in my closets!

  5. Haha, I can’t even figure out how to organize my OWN shoes, never mind yours ;) I’m still trying to come up with a good idea.
