The First Run of 2013

Happy Monday Friends!

I hope everyone had a fantastic, fun and relaxing weekend. This will be my first FULL work week (M-F 8:30a.m-5:30p.m) since before Christmas. I love the holiday’s, but I also enjoy following a regimented schedule.

Don’t get me wrong, the time off is great and I’d take more if they gave it to me, but I am very type A in a lot of aspects.  I tend to get bored easily if I stay home too much, and thrive in more of a routine-oriented life style.

Do you consider yourself more Type A or Type B personality?

First Run of 2013

Since I was planning on having a pretty low-key weekend, I figured that this would be the perfect time to get back to running. I did not take a complete break from running, but can tell you that before Saturday I hadn’t run over 5 miles in probably 2-3 months! I did do other things of course (Poise, Barrework, Zumba etc.)

I truly enjoy running, but the winter time does absolutely nothing for my motivation. Since that is a pretttty lame excuse (and summer is just around the corner!) I’m not going to let a season put a dampener on my motivation levels, nope not anymore!

On Saturday I ran a solid 7 miles on the treadmill,(still some snow and ice outdoors) and was pleasantly surprised and happy with the outcome.

I always get a little nervous when I stop running for a while, and have this notion that I will be huffing and puffing the whole way through (which has happened before!) Luckily, my run was smooth (for the most part) and I only stopped a few times to catch my breath.

A lot of my goals for 2013 are running related, so I’m excited to hit the ground running (pun intended) and get back in tip-top shape! I have a few races coming up (more on that soon!) and am hoping to PR at most, if not all of them.

Oh ya, I should also mention that I believe there is some sort of correlation between a great workout, and wearing a brand new outfit. Call me crazy, but I always have an awesome workout when I am wearing a new outfit!

Especially when it’s from Lu Lu Lemon. Comfort and style? I guess I’ll stay and run another mile ;-)

When you take a break from running or working out in general, are you nervous to start up again?

How long does it take you to get back into the groove?

  1. I just bought that same top from lulu! I love it :)
Oh, and barre- my calves were burning during the pose in that picture. Congrats on getting back into running! It can definitely be tough in the wintertime when it’s cold.

  2. Having a new outfit ALWAYS does it for me. I think it’s because you feel like you LOOK the part more haha so you have to hit it harder. Love that feeling!!

I have lots of goals in 2013 too. Not running related but def fitness related! I want to get my flexibility back!!
