#HLS12 Recap Day 2

Where did we leave off? Oh yes the cocktail party! Soon after the HLS cocktail party ended I went home in hopes of getting a great nights rest, but my body had different plans. I tossed and turned and tossed and turned and no mater what I did, I just could not sleep! I think it was all the excitement I had for the next days activities. I felt like a kid on the night before Christmas. The anticipation of the next days fun happenings were killing me not allowing me to sleep! Luckily I did manage to get a few hours rest, and with a little extra coffee I was good to go!

I arrived at the Hyatt around 8:30 a.m just in time for the Wild Harvest sponsored breakfast. On my way to the breakfast room I was greeted by several booths who were also sponsoring the event. Behind the booths was the staff offering myriads of information about their brands. Most booths even gave out free samples and had certain games/raffles that they were offering. To say that I felt like a child in a candy store is an under statement!

Once I got through checking out all the booths, I got to sit down and chow down on a delicious and satisfying breakfast. I filled my plate with half of a banana nut muffin, some Greek inspired egg scramble (which actually won an award!) and a yogurt cup. All were fantastic and eaten within a matter of 10 minutes. I knew I needed to properly fuel for what was coming up next.

About an hour after breakfast we were directed towards the session I was most excited for, the Reebok sponsored Crossfit WOD. I had never done crossfit before so I was a little intimidated, but overall I can say that I loved it! First we were given a brief lecture about what crossfit is, how it works, why it is effective and how to properly do a few moves.

The WOD that we were instructed to do was 7 deep squats followed by 15 jumps for 5 minutes, sounds easy right? WRONG! Guys, I am STILL slightly sore! 5 minutes does not seem like a long time, but believe me it is! I’ll be honest and tell you that I definitely don’t do enough strength training, so clearly that’s where my weakness is, but wow crossfit is no joke!

Soon after crossfit we had a short break and then it was time to get rolling on all of the awesome sessions that HLS was offering (separate post on those coming soon).

Around 12:30 lunch was served, and I must say it was quite the spread!

I filled my plate with some chicken, salad and avocado and tomatoes. Lunch was definitely a winner! They also had several vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options to satisfy everyone’s dietary needs.
