On Friday, I decided to stay in and watch the latest Twilight movie. I thought that this was the last movie of the series, but considering the ending, I think there is another sequel?! I really hope that there is, because I can’t stand open endings!!! Any Twilight fanatics want to fill me in on this?
On Saturday night, Matteo and I had the pleasure of dining at the Capital Grille with my two cousins and their boyfriends. We had been trying to set up a night out for a while, so I’m glad that we were finally able to clear up some time in our hectic schedules to make it work.
Matteo and I arrived about 15 minutes early for our 8:30 reservation, so we decided to head overt to the bar and grab a quick drink. I kept it simple and ordered a Santa Magerita Pinot Grigio, which served in a larger than normal wine glass, and chilled to perfection. I don’t know why, but something about small wine glasses really annoys me, so I was pleased when I saw this slightly over sized glass! I’m weird, I know.
My cousins arrived about 10 minutes later, so we finished up out drinks and headed over to the table.The Capital Grille is primarily a steakhouse that specializes in nationally renowned aged steaks. I don’t typically eat red meat (only lamb sometimes), so I was happy when I saw that they offer several fresh seafood options as well. We ordered a bunch of appetizers for the table, some of which were shrimp cocktail, oysters and prosciutto wrapped around mozzarella. I especially loved the jumbo shrimp cocktail. They were served over some ice, and drizzled with some lemon. Light and delicious!
For my entree I decided to go with the grilled salmon, which was served over a bed of steamed spinach. An apple walnut relish is typically served on top of this dish, but I opted to get in on the side instead. I’m glad I did because the fish tasted perfect just the way it was. I feel that the relish would have been a little too sweet for my liking. My only gripe about this dish, is that the salmon was farm-raised, as opposed to wild. Other than that, it was perfect!
We were way too stuffed to order dessert, so we didn’t get to try any of the decadent options listed on the menu. Next time I’ll try to remember to take it easy on the appetizers so I have some space left for dessert. I hate the feeling of wanting to have a dessert, but being too uncomfortably full to order one! Boo!
Overall, it was a terrific night out! The server was attentive and the food was outstanding. It’s a bit pricey, but you certainly get what you pay for. I will definitely be returning to the Capital Grille!
